Yerevan State University gradually collapses – YSU spokesperson
Few members of the Yerevan State University have written applications to quit their membership.
“I cannot tell the exact number how many quitted, and I can’t tell the reason. I can just make a conclusion that the ministry is wasting time as it has nothing to say and to do about YSU,” spokesperson Gevorg Emin-Teryan told Aysor.am.
“Considering the previous experience that once Board of Trustees was formed with 8-month long delay and next time with 3-4 months' delay, it is obvious that with it government takes a half year break, and the YSU will be paralyzed for another half year,” the YSU spokesperson added.
He said that in the end of the previous year the Board of Trustees was to approve the report of the rector for the previous academic year.
“Usually it was taking place in late December. It is already midst of April, but the report has not been approved yet. If this works, and we won’t have Board of Trustees for another half year, it means that the 2019-2020 academic year’s report will not be approved which is violation of regulation. For the rector to continue his tenure, the Board of Trustees must approve the past year’s report,” Emin-Teryan said.
Asked what consequences all this may have, the spokesperson said, “Yerevan State University is gradually collapsing.”
