Being on power Kocharyan not only gave hope but guarantee to Azerbaijan – Armenia’s PM
During Robert Kocharyan’s term in office, in 1997-1998 Azerbaijan was not only given a hope that it would reach its goal but a guarantee, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the NA today, stressing that this guarantee was leaving Karabakh out of the negotiation process.
“Heading to negotiations without Karabakh was a hope and guarantee for Azerbaijan that they would reach their aim. What should have they done? What we tried to do in 2019, saying that we do not imagine negotiations and settlement of the issue without Karabakh. They should have done it in 1997-1998 because that time Azerbaijan was not ready and could not have given military solution to the issue. We wouldn’t have lied to ourselves that we are solving issue with the negotiations but in parallel would have prepared to war,” Pashinyan said.
The PM also stressed that Kocharyan-Sargsyan couple, using the Karabakh issue to reach the power, failed the NK negotiation process during 20 years.
