Kyiv Announces Plans to Transport Azerbaijani Gas to Europe Instead of Russian

Ukraine is prepared to transport Azerbaijani, Kazakh, and "any other" gas to Europe, except for Russian gas, after the expiration of its contract with Gazprom, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office.

 

"If any European country deems it necessary to receive gas from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, or another country, we are ready to transport it," Podolyak said.

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the previous day his decision not to extend the gas transit contract with Gazprom. The contract is set to expire at the end of 2024.
