Mher Grigoryan confirms discussion on possible oil and fuel imports from Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has confirmed that the issue of exporting oil and oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia was discussed during his recent meeting in Gabala with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

Responding to a question from RFE/RL about whether Yerevan and Baku have already reached an agreement on fuel imports, Grigoryan stated: “Yes, there have been discussions; there are opportunities for cooperation.”

RFE/RL also inquired about the potential import volumes, which Armenian companies may be involved, the price at which Azerbaijan is prepared to supply oil and oil products, and whether Azerbaijani fuel would be competitive compared to imports from Russia. In response, Grigoryan noted:

“The further course of action regarding fuel lies within the framework of cooperation between private exporters and importers, and any potential transactions will be conducted on a market basis,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
