Finally, did Nikol Pashinyan say he is ready to meet with His Holiness?

Archbishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, who has joined Nikol Pashinyan’s confrontation with the Church, announced that the Prime Minister is ready to meet with the Catholicos of All Armenians.

According to the archbishop, the Prime Minister stated this during a meeting with bishops.

Mirzakhanyan reiterated this claim in a conversation with journalists yesterday, saying that the Prime Minister is prepared to meet with His Holiness to discuss a number of issues related to the Church.

Aysor.am contacted Father Yesayi Artenyan, Director of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, to clarify whether any such proposal had been received and whether His Holiness is prepared for a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan.

“At this time, there is no such proposal or invitation. The rest is without comment,” Father Yesayi told Aysor.am.

Since Friday, Aysor.am has also attempted to clarify with the Prime Minister’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, whether Nikol Pashinyan indeed expressed readiness to meet with His Holiness. However, phone calls and written inquiries have gone unanswered.

Today, further attempts were made to contact the Prime Minister’s spokesperson. She stated that a response would be provided later, but subsequent calls and messages once again remained unanswered.
