A time will come when His Holiness will take other steps; everything has its measure and limit – Father Asoghik Karapetyan (Video)

Everything has its measure and its limit, and it is very likely that a moment will come when His Holiness the Patriarch will issue other directives, as the attitude, position, and misguided course of the ten bishops are disrupting the normal life of the Church. After so many exhortations and repeated calls, the decision that His Holiness the Patriarch will make will naturally be fair and just, stated His Eminence Father Asoghik Karapetyan, Director of the Archives and Museums of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, during the Aysor.am program “Are There Questions?”

“If even a single soul within the Church remains faithful to its sacred vow and to Holy Etchmiadzin, the Church will not be destroyed. In 1938, when Khoren I Muradbekyan, the Catholicos of All Armenians, was martyred, there was no one left in Holy Etchmiadzin. Everyone had been exiled, executed, or disappeared without a trace. Only one clergyman remained in Etchmiadzin – Archbishop Gevorg Chorekchyan. Yet with that one clergyman, the Church remained unshaken, Holy Etchmiadzin stood firm, and the Armenian Church was reborn from that single seed.

Therefore, whether ten bishops or two hundred bishops gather and demand the resignation of the Armenian Patriarch is absurd. Such a thing cannot happen. No number, however large, has the right to make a canonical decision within the Church, because the Church operates according to procedures sanctified and established over centuries. Anything that falls outside those procedures and is imposed from the secular world can never have canonical force – even if they decide to appoint and ordain someone as Catholicos of All Armenians,” Father Asoghik emphasized.The
