Azerbaijani gasoline sold out within days; several thousand more tons now arriving: Papoyan

Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan told reporters that a new batch of several thousand tons of gasoline is being imported into Armenia from Azerbaijan by the same companies that handled the previous shipment.

“The novelty is that this time not only premium gasoline is arriving, but also regular gasoline and diesel fuel. According to preliminary estimates, the price is up to 80 drams cheaper than the current market price,” Papoyan said. He added that imports from Azerbaijan have already “returned to a normal course,” and the issue is no longer a matter of concern.

“In fact, the gasoline that was previously imported was sold out within a few days, which indicates high demand,” the minister noted.

Addressing the question of whether other companies have the opportunity to import cheaper fuel, Papoyan stated: “I have not chosen anyone, nor do I have the authority to choose anyone. If I were to choose, I would choose everyone. Other companies should also negotiate with their suppliers or with that company to import affordable gasoline, so that our citizens can benefit.”

It should be recalled that Azerbaijani gasoline was imported by “Shisha World” LLC and “Mega Trade” LLC.
