RA border guards and customs officers to carry out activities within their powers across the entire infrastructure – Khandanyan

This project is both an infrastructural and a business initiative, Civil Contract MP Sargis Khandanyan told reporters, referring to TRIPP.

Speaking about the share distribution, he noted that it was determined through negotiations: 74 percent for the U.S., 26 percent for Armenia. “The number of shares largely depends on investments. However, in all sensitive issues of importance to Armenia, the country will have a decisive vote. That is, when the TRIPP company is established and its charter is adopted, it will explicitly state that Armenia has the right to a decisive vote on certain matters,” he said.

Khandanyan also dismissed rumors that the road would be leased: “We are not talking about leasing; we are talking about the right to construct. The TRIPP company will carry out construction and implement a business project on Armenian territory.”

He added that the text clearly specifies that RA border guards and customs officers will operate within their powers and will be present throughout the entire infrastructure and at appropriate locations.
