We expect intervention from Armenian authorities over violations of free speech values – Matevosyan to ambassadors (Video)

Astghik Matevosyan, editor-in-chief of Antifake, called on foreign ambassadors to respond to alleged violations of freedom of speech in Armenia while handing them official letters.

“Previously, whenever a journalist faced pressure or reports emerged of possible political prisoners, dozens of ambassadors would visit them and demand that the Armenian authorities take steps toward their release,” Matevosyan stated.

“We expect a political response. We expect intervention regarding the encroachments by the Armenian authorities on the values of freedom of speech, especially since your institutions have funded efforts to strengthen democracy and protect free expression in Armenia for years,” she said․
