Samvel Karapetyan will not participate in today’s court hearing: Vardevanyan

Businessman Samvel Karapetyan’s lawyer Aram Vardevanyan wrote:

“Dear colleagues, the manifestly unlawful detention imposed on Samvel Karapetyan since June 18, 2025, was replaced on December 30 with house arrest and additional restrictions.

As previously reported, on its first working day – January 5 – the Prosecutor’s Office filed an appeal with an evidently unlawful request to reinstate Samvel Karapetyan’s detention. On January 12, the Court of Appeals accepted both the prosecutor’s appeal and our appeal for consideration and set January 16 as the date for announcing its decision.

At the same time, the investigative body submitted a petition to extend the house arrest (as, by law, no other petition may be filed), resulting in another hearing being scheduled for today at 4:00 PM at the Anti-Corruption Court.
