Samvel Karapetyan receives inpatient treatment at Nairi Medical Center: Lawyer

Although the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal overturned the decision to replace Samvel Karapetyan’s detention with house arrest, he has not yet been transferred to a penitentiary.

Samvel Karapetyan’s lawyer, Lianna Gasparyan, told Aysor.am that he is currently undergoing treatment at the Nairi Medical Center.

“He has been receiving inpatient treatment for several days,” Gasparyan said, noting that, as previously reported, his diagnosis is COVID and pneumonia.

Asked whether Karapetyan would remain in the hospital until fully recovered before being transferred to a penal institution, the lawyer said she could not provide a definite answer. “I cannot say how humanitarian considerations will be applied; that is another matter. But at this moment, we can state clearly that he is receiving inpatient treatment at the Nairi Medical Center,” she said.
