Armenia to make medicines 20% cheaper by following Georgia’s model – Narek Karapetyan (Video)

For Armenian pensioners receiving 40,000 drams, nearly half of their income – around 20,000 drams – is spent on medicines. Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” movement, highlighted this issue during the presentation of Samvel Karapetyan’s economic program, noting that medicines in Armenia could become about 20% cheaper.

“To develop this approach, we studied Georgia’s experience. Medicines in Georgia are significantly cheaper than in Armenia. The state there applies a policy called PRP, where EU countries from which Georgian businesses purchase medicines calculate the maximum allowable price in Georgia. This policy has led to a substantial reduction in medicine prices,” Karapetyan explained.
