Armenia-produced UAVs may be exported in the near future – Mkhitar Hayrapetyan

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) produced in Armenia may be exported in the near future, RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said at a press conference.

According to him, 2025 has become a turning point for Armenia’s defense industry. Thanks to state defense orders totaling about 172 billion drams, local companies have already begun entering international markets, establishing partnerships, and expanding production capacities.

“All political and economic risks have been assessed, and only after that were export permits issued. The defense industry will become one of Armenia’s key export sectors,” he noted.

Hayrapetyan recalled that Armenian military-industrial companies first received licenses to export defense products in 2025, adding that he could not disclose further details due to the sensitivity of the information.

Addressing the procurement of UAVs from the United States, the minister explained that Armenian companies do not yet manufacture that particular category of systems, making imports a technological necessity.
