Restricting clergy service in the Armed Forces will not serve any good purpose – David Tonoyan
During my tenure, efforts were made to improve conditions for military chaplains serving in Armenia’s defense system, former Defense Minister David Tonoyan said in an interview with News.am and 24News.am.
“I highly value the service of chaplains in the Armed Forces, including during wartime and crisis periods,” Tonoyan said.
According to the former minister, hindering or restricting the service of clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Armed Forces would be counterproductive.
“From a moral and psychological perspective, more than 90 percent of our servicemen are followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church,” Tonoyan said.
