Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the National Assembly’s “I Have Honor” faction, stated that the topic of impeachment has never been dormant and that efforts are now underway to revive it.

“It is always the number one issue on our agenda,” he said in a conversation with reporters.

The Republican Party of Armenia will convene a session of its executive body in the coming days and issue an official statement.

David Hambardzumyan, former mayor of Masis and a political prisoner, is the joint candidate for impeachment. Yesterday, he submitted a letter and applied to the Republican Party’s executive body.

Mamijanyan emphasized that Hambardzumyan’s letter demonstrated state-minded thinking, recognizing the importance of a shared goal of power change and setting aside secondary objectives and personal ambitions.

“I think it is obvious to our citizens,” Mamijanyan said, adding that Hambardzumyan’s letter was not a hint, but a direct reference to the street struggle.

“In my humble opinion, opposing impeachment equates to opposing the street struggle, which is an unacceptable approach for the opposition,” Hayk Mamijanyan noted.
