“There was a situation that should not have happened:” Andreasyan denies saying Gzoyan was dismissed due to construction problems

Zhanna Andreasyan, Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, said she highly appreciates Edita Gzoyan as a scientist and believes she has every opportunity to continue her scholarly work, including at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.

Andreasyan made the remarks in a conversation with reporters, referring to the decision to dismiss Gzoyan from the post of director of the museum-institute.

“I think our cooperation is not exhausted at all. However, management is a specific sphere that implies specific responsibilities, and problems in the management sphere must be resolved. For me, the issue is closed, because there was a situation that should not have happened, and that situation has now been resolved,” she said.

Andreasyan also denied reports that she told museum employees Gzoyan had been dismissed due to construction-related problems.

“I did not say anything like that. From the very beginning, I raised the issue primarily in terms of management,” the minister stated.

It should be noted that Gzoyan was dismissed from the position of director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute after presenting a book about Artsakh to the Vice President of the United States.
