The condition of the 1-year-old child subjected to violence by stepmother is extremely serious

The condition of the one-year-old child who was subjected to violence remains extremely serious, the Arabkir Medical Center told Aysor.am.

“The child continues to remain in the intensive care unit. Doctors are fighting for the child’s life,” the medical center reported.

According to the information provided, violence had been inflicted on the child over a prolonged period – from January 22 to March 10, inclusive.

“For causing severe physical pain as a result of physical abuse regularly inflicted on the one-year-old child from January 22 to March 10, 2026, as well as for an attempt to unlawfully deprive the child of life with direct intent on March 15, the prosecutor has initiated public criminal prosecution against the child’s father’s second wife under Article 196, Part 2, Clause 3 and Article 44-155, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code,” the Prosecutor General’s Office press service told Aysor.am.

The office also noted that a motion has been filed with the court to apply detention as a preventive measure.

On March 16 the one-year-old child was taken to the Arabkir Medical Center with a diagnosis of clinical death.
