If the opposition comes to power, Armenia will most likely face a new war immediately: Ararat Mirzoyan

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan believes that Nikol Pashinyan spoke conditionally when saying that there would be a war in September if the Civil Contract Party is not in power.

“He meant shortly after the elections, and such a prospect could indeed exist,” Mirzoyan said in a conversation with reporters.

He insisted that the opposition’s ideology is based on the belief that Armenia has territorial issues and claims with almost all neighboring countries.

“It is obvious that if people with such a mindset come to power, problems with neighboring states will arise immediately, and Armenia will most likely face a new war,” Mirzoyan said.

The Civil Contract member noted that they are proposing peace under different conditions and, in their deep conviction, under other approaches the very existence of Armenia could come into serious doubt.

Responding to a journalist’s remark that their government had brought four wars “upon this country,” he said that they had not brought the war, but that the war had been a consequence.

“Yes, it happened during our time, but it was the result of remaining within the framework of more than 30 years of flawed political thinking and misunderstanding. To say that we brought the war is a major exaggeration,” Mirzoyan noted.
