Chechen woman Aishat Baymuradova buried in Armenia five months after her death
Aishat Baymuradova, a 23-year-old Chechen woman who was murdered in Yerevan, was buried in Armenia five months after her death. Her body remained in the morgue for several months because, under Armenian law, it could only be released to relatives – who declined to accept it and did not respond to authorities’ requests.
The funeral was conducted in Armenia at state expense, following the legal procedure. Baymuradova was laid to rest in a separate section of the Nubarashen cemetery, an area without tombstones.
Baymuradova had fled Chechnya and disappeared in Yerevan on October 15, 2025. Her body was discovered a few days later. Armenian law enforcement suspects Iminova and Chechen-born Said-Khamzaat Baysarov in connection with her murder.
