Can Samvel Karapetyan make a video message?

The issue of whether Samvel Karapetyan, chairman of the “Strong Armenia” party, can deliver a video message has been under discussion for some time.

Aram Vardevanyan, a member of Karapetyan’s legal team, stated that the restriction on his public speech has been lifted; however, the possibility of issuing a video message was not explicitly clarified.

According to Vardevanyan, a formal request was submitted to both the investigative body and the supervising prosecutor, but the response from the investigative body was effectively equivalent to a refusal.

Aysor.am also contacted the Prosecutor’s Office, asking whether there are any legal obstacles preventing Karapetyan from releasing a video message at this stage.

In response, the Prosecutor’s Office stated that it does not provide legal assessments outside the framework of specific criminal proceedings.

Regarding the lawyers’ request, the Prosecutor’s Office added that the Prosecutor General’s Office has already communicated its position to Karapetyan’s legal team.
