The Civil Contract directly says, those who are followers of the Church, ‘do not vote for us’ – Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan
Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, stated that he finds it difficult to describe in mild terms the provision concerning the Church in the election program of the Civil Contract Party.
“It is illegal and unconstitutional,” the Archbishop said in a conversation with reporters.
According to him, the party’s position effectively conveys the message: “Those who are followers of the Church, do not vote for us.”
“No one can claim to be a follower of the Armenian Church and vote for the Civil Contract, taking into account that such a provision exists in the party’s election program,” Archbishop Arshak noted.
