“I am ready to accompany you during your visit to Baku”: Tandilyan’s proposal to Avanesyan

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan stated that efforts are underway to monitor the health condition of Armenian prisoners held in Baku, in coordination with Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that “there is no delay or slowdown, and the issue remains in the government’s focus.” Mane Tandilyan cited this statement.

Tandilyan then addressed Avanesyan directly:

“Ms. Avanesyan, if you are indeed closely following the situation and are aware of the existing problems, the question arises: what concrete steps are being taken beyond ‘closely following’? These individuals have health issues and, in many cases, remain without proper care.

You fail to bring all Armenians held in Baku back – that is a reality. But is it possible, at the very least, to visit them?

I suggest that, in addition to just monitoring the situation, you make a visit and personally assess their health condition. Perhaps this would allow for more effective steps to be taken.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan is able to visit Armenia – yet you cannot travel to Baku? After all, your government has stated that relations with Azerbaijan are based on the principle of reciprocity.
