The owner of ENA will not accept the government’s offer – David Ghazinyan

The government has offered $380,000 to the family of the owner, Samvel Karapetyan, to acquire the ENA, according to a response to Aysor.am, confirmed by David Ghazinyan, a member of the Strong Armenia Party and former general director of ENA. He noted that the document was not intended for publication, but it has already become known to the media. According to Ghazinyan, the situation once again demonstrates the state’s approach toward private business.

When asked whether they are preparing to accept the government’s offer, he answered negatively.

“What person with reason or logic can accept this? On the contrary, the person who presented it should be directed to a corresponding specialist. It would not be appropriate to discuss ENA amid these challenges facing the country,” the party member said.

It should be recalled that RFE/RL reported that it obtained the government’s offer to acquire 100 percent of Armenia’s Electric Networks, the content of which is not being disclosed by either the government or the owners of ENA. In effect, if the owner returns previously received dividends to the company, the government’s offer for ENA shares would amount to 142 million drams, or approximately $380,000.

It should also be noted that on June 18, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, hours before the arrest of businessman and ENA owner Samvel Karapetyan, stated that the time had come for the nationalization of “Electric Networks of Armenia” CJSC.
