Import of liquefied gas from Iran to resume in the coming days, prices expected to drop – Gevorg Papoyan

The issue surrounding the import of liquefied gas from Iran has been resolved, and supplies of Iranian liquefied gas to Armenia will resume in the coming days, potentially contributing to lower prices, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said during a briefing with journalists as part of a campaign visit to the Aragatsotn region.

According to the minister, although liquefied gas imports from Russia are currently continuing without interruption, price increases in the Russian market have also affected prices in Armenia.

“Prices have increased in the Russian Federation, and that has had its impact here. Our goal was to ensure the minimum necessary volume of liquefied gas in Armenia, and today that has already been achieved – liquefied gas is available throughout Armenia. I hope the Iranian factor will have its effect and prices will decrease,” he noted.

Papoyan added that a return to previous price levels in the liquefied gas market appears less realistic at this stage.

Since mid-April, liquefied gas prices have increased, reaching 280-300 drams, while shortages were also reported at some gas stations. Around 15 days ago, Gevorg Papoyan stated that large volumes of liquefied gas would enter Armenia, leading to a significant reduction in prices.
