Court bans live broadcast of witness interrogations in Khachik Galstyan case

The hearing in the case of Khachik Galstyan, Secretary General of the “Homeland” party, continued today at the Anti-Corruption Court.

Defense attorney Arsen Babayan told reporters that witnesses are expected to be questioned today, provided they appear before the court.

During the session, the prosecutor filed a motion requesting that the interrogation of witnesses not be videotaped, citing the risk that certain confidential information could become public.

The defense, in turn, stated that it opposed conducting witness interrogations without a live broadcast.

Judge Vardges Stepanyan granted the prosecutor’s motion, prohibiting the videotaping of the witness interrogations, while allowing audio recording of the proceedings.

The Anti-Corruption Committee accuses Doctor of Political Science and Professor Khachik Galstyan of allegedly distributing electoral bribes to voters during the snap municipal elections held in Vagharshapat on November 16, 2025. Galstyan was arrested on December 30, 2025. On February 26, the court changed his preventive measure from detention to house arrest.
