No compromise with any oligarch possible – Gevorg Papoyan on government’s intention to nationalize AraratCement
Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan stated that the authorities have not only now remembered the AraratCement factory, adding that the Prosecutor’s Office has only recently identified the legal grounds for action.
“If we had found those grounds in 2018, we would have acted then. If anyone thinks we will not pursue illegal property now and guarantee them immunity in 2028, they are mistaken, because we will go after all illegal assets,” he said during a briefing with journalists after the government session.
Gevorg Papoyan emphasized that there can be no compromise with any oligarch.
During the election campaign, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the intention to nationalize the AraratCement factory, stating that the enterprise would become the property of the Republic of Armenia.
