Marta Kos to visit Armenia on July 5

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Martha Kos will visit Armenia on July 5.

Kos announced the visit on X following her meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to the commissioner, Russia has intensified pressure on Armenia in an attempt to steer the country away from the democratic path chosen by its citizens in the recent parliamentary elections.

Kos noted that EU member states will discuss further support for Armenia at the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on June 15, emphasizing the bloc’s solidarity with the country.

“We will provide financial assistance and help make it easier for Armenia to trade with its neighbors and Europe. I will travel to Yerevan on July 5 to take forward concrete steps,” Kos wrote.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is participating in the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg at the invitation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Russia imposed bans and restrictions on the import of a number of Armenian goods ahead of Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary elections. Those measures remain in force.
