Davit Ghazinyan detained for two months

Davit Ghazinyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia bloc, has been placed in pre-trial detention for two months.

As previously reported, the Central Electoral Commission on June 17 granted the Prosecutor’s Office petitions to strip Ghazinyan of parliamentary immunity and initiate criminal proceedings against him.

Earlier, Ghazinyan stated that he believes the case against him stems from the authorities’ fears: “This is directed both against my activities and against the activities of our political force.”
