Genocide recognition puts Azerbaijan in a difficult dilemma and signals possible reconfiguration of stakeholders in the so-called TRIPP issue

The approval of the genocide recognition resolution submitted by the Israeli government in the Knesset will have a significant impact on developments in the Middle East, wrote political scientist Stepan Danielyan.

“The recognition of the Genocide has the meaning of historical justice for Armenians, while for Israel and Turkey it represents a stage in an ongoing political confrontation. Israel seeks to counterbalance it with accusations of genocide in Gaza, which Turkey in turn raises against Israel. It also aims to limit Turkey’s ambitions in the Islamic world.
