Criminal prosecution against Bishop Makar to be terminated

The criminal prosecution against Bishop Makar Hakobyan is subject to termination, lawyer Armine Fanyan announced.

She said the decision was made by Judge Emma Avagyan and confirmed that the rights of Bishop Makar Hakobyan had been violated.

“In particular, by granting the complaint, the court recorded that the period of public criminal prosecution against Bishop Makar had been suspended without proper justification of the exceptional grounds required for such a decision. As a result, his rights to a lawful and substantiated procedural act, effective judicial protection and the resolution of the issue of the accusation within a reasonable period were violated.
