In conversation with Pashinyan, Putin stresses need for referendum on joining EU or remaining in EAEU – Kremlin

The telephone conversation between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, the Kremlin press service reported.

“Vladimir Putin reaffirmed the joint statement adopted by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia at the EAEU summit in Astana on May 29, 2026, regarding the Republic of Armenia’s actions toward joining the European Union. In particular, the need to hold a nationwide referendum in Armenia as soon as possible on joining the EU or continuing its membership in the EAEU was emphasized,” the news release stated.
