Tokmajian: This city belongs to all of us, and we are in the same boat
Elections will come and go, but Yerevan is eternal, sculptor Hovhannes Tokmajian said at the meeting with journalists today. Tokmajian is No 3 on the list of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) in the May 5 elections to Yerevan Council of Elders.
Speaking about the first week of the election campaign, he noted that there are numerous problems in the city “We have few green zones. Another problem is related to transport. In order to solve it, I would start subway construction work which, however, will not take only one or two years”.
Tokmajian discussed the issue of Closed Market in downtown Yerevan. In response to the remark that the name of HHK member, businessman Samvel Alexanian is mentioned in connection with Closed Market, the sculptor said: “Regardless of the elections, I have my own opinion about the issue. In accordance with the Master Plan of Yerevan, its historical part must be retained. Developers should build five or ten underground floors in the Closed Market, if necessary”.
In conclusion, H. Tokmajian said: “This city belongs to all of us. We are in the same boat”.
