Meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents planned by end of year

The Russian Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov said that it is planned to hold a meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan by the end of the year, according to the APA news agency.

In his words, the organization of a regular meeting of the heads of the two conflicting countries was discussed at today’s meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Holding a summit was among the issues we discussed today. The Azerbaijani president consented in principle. We will now travel to Armenia. After talks with President Sargsyan, we will release a statement of co-chairs, in which the positions of both presidents will be set out. Nevertheless, we hope a summit will be held by the end of this year,” Igor Popov said.
