Foreign ministers of Armenia and Serbia discuss cooperation prospects
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received today Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic who is on an official visit to Armenia, the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian said the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Serbian peoples which took various forms of mutual support is a good basis for the promotion of interstate relations.
Ivan Mrkic thanked Edward Nalbandian for his warm reception, noting that the main goal of his visit is to raise bilateral cooperation to a new level in many spheres.
The sides discussed preparations for the Serbian president’s visit to Armenia this year and issues related to the expansion of the legal and contractual field, the development of cooperation in international organizations, the encouragement of trade and economic links and activities of the parliamentary friendship groups, and decentralized cooperation.
The OSCE problems were discussed in the context of Serbia’s chairmanship of the OSCE in 2015. Ivan Mrkic presented the talks with Kosovo, highly appreciating Armenia’s balanced position on this issue.
E. Nalbandian spoke about efforts of Armenia and the international community on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Ivan Mrkic stated again about Serbia’s support for the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The interlocutors exchanged opinions about regional and international problems.
Edward Nalbandian and Ivan Mrkic signed a double taxation avoidance agreement between Armenia and Serbia.
