Turkologist: I hope Erdogan will not accept Armenian president’s invitation

“I hope that Erdogan will not accept Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to visit Armenia on April 24, 2015 when the centennial of the Armenian genocide will be marked,” Turkologist Artak Shakaryan told reporters today.

In his words, if during his visit to Yerevan, Erdogan makes a statement that would be unexpected and unacceptable to the Armenian side, this will aggravate the situation.

“Erdogan’s visit to Yerevan will be a victory for Serzh Sargsyan. But what if he comes, accompanied by international mass media, and says that he bows his head “before our common pain, before the Armenians and the Turks killed in 1915 and also the Azerbaijanis - Khojaly victims? It is a serious problem not stemming from our interests,” Shakaryan said.
