Ohanyan: There is panic in Azerbaijani border villages
18 thousand ceasefire violations were recorded in 2014 compared to 13 thousand violations in 2013, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at the government session today.
According to him, 26 reconnaissance subversive attempts were recorded during this period, 15 of which have been committed since July 25.
“The situation remains tense. Azerbaijan continues to take unprecedented actions of a military nature – opening fire on settlements from large caliber guns, movements along the Line of Contact and in the rear,” Ohanyan said.
“Azerbaijan has announced a call-up of commanding officers, troops were brought into a higher state of readiness, movements of equipment were observed, while planes and helicopters carry out flights along the defensive line,” the minister said, adding that the Azerbaijani mass media spread misinformation about “the victory of Azerbaijani troops and heavy losses of the Armenian side”.
“In reality the situation is opposite. Azerbaijan has paid with 8-9 lives against each killed Armenian serviceman. There is panic in some border settlements of Azerbaijan, an outflow of population,” Seyran Ohanyan stressed.
