We need a leader who is a priest on the inside and you know what on the outside – Narek Karapetyan

“Let us imagine an Armenia where we no longer hear daily about Armenians confronting one another; an Armenia that has moved beyond wars; an Armenia where society is united regardless of political views; an Armenia that has overcome poverty, where people can provide for their families with dignity through their work,” said Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” movement, during his speech at the movement’s 2025 reporting meeting.

According to him, there is one key prerequisite for achieving such an Armenia: national unity.
Karapetyan recalled that the movement was launched six months ago under the leadership of Samvel Karapetyan and that, during this period, around 15,000 volunteers have joined its ranks.

“I can state that this is the fastest-growing movement in Armenia, and we can be confident that, at this pace, we will reverse the cycle of defeats in our society,” he emphasized.

Touching on socio-economic issues, Karapetyan noted that Armenia has significant potential and that Armenians are among the most industrious nations in the region.

“Our country has great potential. The Armenian people are one of the most active nations in the region, and it is unacceptable for Armenia to have 20 percent poverty. It is impossible for every fifth citizen to live in poverty,” he said.

According to Karapetyan, poverty can be overcome by leaders who have a deep understanding of the economy and proven success in that field.

“The Armenian nation has such leaders who are capable of resolving the problem of poverty in society,” he stated.

He also noted that Armenia’s current challenges are primarily economic, stressing that the issues facing the army are closely linked to both economic and diplomatic factors.

“We need a strong leader. A strong leader is not someone who shouts, makes noise, or insults others, but someone under whose leadership no one dares to set foot on your land. We need a leader who is a priest on the inside and, you know what, on the outside,” Karapetyan concluded.
