Today’s verdict in Baku is about Pashinyan and Aliyev’s “fraternal peace”: Mesrop Arakelyan

While Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev were awarded the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi yesterday in celebration of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, today in Baku the military-political leadership of Artsakh was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the “Land to Live” party, told Aysor.am that the events of today were painful and tragic.

Regarding the “fraternal peace” between Pashinyan and Aliyev, Arakelyan said it is highly symbolic:

“That peace is between two people, at best, their political teams, because these individuals and their teams enjoy very warm, brotherly relations. As for possible peace between the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, today’s verdict speaks for itself. As long as there are Armenian prisoners in Baku and Azerbaijan maintains such an attitude, discussing peace – at the very least – is illogical.”
